Schools-based counselling
I offer on-site counselling at schools across North London. Sessions take place during the school day, providing professional support with minimal disruption to your child's routine.
Why school-based counselling?
On-site counselling provides the least disruption to the child's school day
Sessions take place in a private room at school, during school hours. This means that young people can access professional support without needing time off school, long journeys, or disruption to family schedules. It makes counselling accessible and practical.
For many young people, attending counselling at school feels more comfortable and familiar. It removes barriers and makes it easier to engage with support when they need it.
How it works
Contact and consent
Saba will contact the school, and the parent needs to provide consent
Once consent is received, I will arrange the sessions with the school and inform you of when they will take place.
Session location
The child will have their session during the school day in a room allocated by the school
Schools provide a quiet, private space for counselling sessions. This ensures confidentiality and allows the young person to speak freely.
Session materials
Materials used for the sessions will be taken to site on every visit
This ensures that sessions have everything needed for age-appropriate work, including creative materials where helpful.

Session timing

What to expect
When a young person starts school-based counselling, the first session focuses on building rapport and understanding their needs. We talk about what counselling is, how it works, and what they can expect. Confidentiality and its limits are explained clearly.
Sessions then continue regularly, usually weekly, at the same time each week. This consistency helps build trust and creates a safe routine. The young person will be called from their lesson a few minutes before the session starts.
Schools are informed in general terms that counselling is taking place, but the content of sessions remains confidential unless there is a safeguarding concern.
